Super Doll Licca-chan
Takara had already sucessfully launched the Super Action Jenny line when in 1998 they decided to create a similar line for their Licca dolls. Super Action Licca was to have elbow joints and an extra twist below the chest line.
To promote the new body type, Takara commissioned an anime series produced by Kodansha under the title Super Doll Licca-chan (スーパードール★リカちゃん) which told the story of a girl, Kayama Licca, protected by noble Doll Knights.
You can see the commercial for the doll line here (starts at 00.30).
However, some aspects of the show seem a little confusing when compared to the actual situation with Licca doll line. Kayama Licca is the official full name of the doll made by Takara, so the character named Kayama Licca should represent this doll in the series. Yet she is a human character in the show (even if she is the princess of the Doll Kingdom), while a doll character is Doll Licca, going by the same name but very different in appearance, character and fate. Izumi and Isamu, two other Doll Knights, are Doll Licca's friends, but at the same time they are based on Izumi and Isamu who, in actual Takara doll line, are Kayama Licca's friends!
So the parallels with the real Licca world are too twisted and complicated, but a certain pattern still can be seen. Of all dolls based on Super Doll Licca-chan series, Kayama Licca doll is the only one that has a soft body. Doll Knights, on the opposite, have "action" articulated bodies with magnets. It might well be an implication that new Super Action Licca bodies have more advantages than the traditional Licca body.
Notwithstanding these promotional activities, Super Action Licca didn't arouse much interest. The body wasn't used further, as well as the body made for Doll Licca.
